I am attending the Art Institute of Seattle, studying to become an animator. I am expecting to graduate sometime in 2007.
There are many things involved in being an animator. You have to develop an understanding of how things move and react. You have to get a feel for the weight of whatever it is you're drawing. It is a complicated process of understanding many things before your animation can begin to truly take shape.
But perhaps the greatest joy for an animator is to see your character come to life on the screen, interact with it's environment, and have a voice!
You will need either QuickTime or Windows Media Player (for AVI) to view my animations. Each file lists the file type.

Bouncing Ball! |
I've gone back to basics and am retaking my Intro to 2D Animation class again this quarter. (I didn't do so well the first time around do to stress and depression problems. >_< ) So once again I present to you....THE AMAZING BOUNCING BALL!!! Yes ladies and gentlemen, once again I thrill you with that mystical magical ball as it bounds it's way accross time and space for your viewing pleasure! ......Okay, to be serious now... Heheh I have 3 different versions in this animation. Well, they're all the same, but each one is shot differently. The first is 15 frames per second. The 2nd is is 7.5 frames per second. The 3rd version varies in speed, so that it slows down at the top of the arch, and speeds up as it hits the floor. |

Toilet Kitty |
It's my long lost Kitty animation!! I actually did this for my final in Audio for Animation last fall, and then I misplaced the CD with the AVI file on it. Well I found it again this week, yay! This is created in a format called an animatic. I created the animation on storyboards first, and then shot the storyboards into an animation. I added the sound affects and the background music, which was the entire point of the assignment. :-p Eventually I would like to fully animate this, either as a personal project or with a group. |

Ice Cube |
This is an extension of the bouncing ball project. This time we had to bounce an object. Using the "squash" and "stretch" techniques we learned with the balls. I chose to bounce an ice cube. And thought I'd have a bit of fun with it, adding water droplets. Much of the detail is lost in this small format though. As with all my animations, it looks *much* better on the TV screen. |

Santa Claus |
Another assignment for Audio for Animation. This time, the assignment was an introduction to lipsync. I had to create or choose a clip of dialogue audio, and then animate a character saying the dialogue. I found the audio clip on the internet. It is a clip of Agent K from Men in Black. In trying to decide what kind of character to animate for it, I had a sudden inspiration when I pictured Santa Claus looking at a child who had caught him on Christmas night. This might be what he tells the child to get him to go back to bed. |

Hip Cat |
This was an assignment for Audio for Animation. The task was to animate a character zipping back and forth accross the screen, adding appropriate sound affects for the movement. For my character, I chose to use a sketch I had done of a cat wearing sunglasses. He has a simple body made up of circles, to give an almost robotic appearance. This was my very first animation, and I had a lot of fun completing it! I decided to throw in a bit more of a challenge, giving the cat a twitch of the tail, and having him pop his head up from off screen. I am very pleased with how it came out! |
